The adjustable wedge clamp gives a variable clamping action. It is used for attachment to splits in rock faces and is esp. useful for securing ropes in mountain climbing, and mountaineering. Two or more wedge shaped clamping sections (11, 13, 14) made from a suitable material are adjusted relative to each other until a clamping action is achieved in the splits in the rock face. The wedge clamp may consist of one symmetrical section with two asymmetrical wedge sections on its sides, or ther may be two asymmetrical wedge sections with the adjustment carried out in each case by a thread spindle.
