PURPOSE:To ensure the omission of the interlace scanning mechanism by installing the optical position of the 1st solid state pickup device with the shift of 1/2 picture element pitch of vertical direction to other solid state pickup device. CONSTITUTION:For the relation of optical relative position of the pickup plate, pickup plate 33 for G (green beam) is shifted vertically by 1/2 pitch Pv of the picture element to pickup plates 34 and 35 for R (red beam) and B (blue beam) each. In such constitution of the luminance signal plus the disposition of the pickup plates and the scanning method, the luminance signal shifted vertically by 1/2 pitch of the picture element can be obtained. This means that the equivalence is secured when the number of picture elements becomes double in the vertical direction. And thus 250 units of vertical picture elements equivalent to one field suffice even for the standard system, and furthermore the coincidence is obtained with the interlace scanning. Accordingly, no special mechanism is required for the scanning switch with every field.
