A process of coating a film by depositing a coating on the film with a coating roller and subsequently distributing it evenly as a thin layer with a smoothing roller, wherein the film follows a generally part circular path during the coating process. Apparatus of the invention includes the coating and smoothing rollers together with two guide rollers.
