This invention relates to new benzimida?ole compounds of the formula I /I/ wherein R2, R3, and R5 stand for hydrogen or alkyl; R6 stands for a group of the Formula VII /VII/ or VIII /VIII/ R1 stands for hydrogen or a group of the formula VI -CO - NH - R4 /VI/ R4 stands for an optionally substituted aryl, alkyl or cycloalkyl group and salts thereof. These compounds are prepared according to known methods. They are useful as active ingredients in fungicidal preparations and as disinfectants.
