: This invention concerns an apparatus and a method for controlling the flow of pulp to the treatment towers in the process section of a bleachery, the pulp being fed to each treatment tower by pumps. Each of the pumps is driven with a respective short-circuited asynchronous motor which is connected to an alternating electrical current supply. There is provided a circuit arrangement for adjusting the speeds of the short-circuited asynchronous motors, and thus the flow of pulp through the pumps, by modulating the frequency of the alternating electrical current supplied to the motors.
