A process for the production of glucose from a cellulose containing raw material by steam treatment at a temperature from 160 to 230.degree.C for from 2 minutes to 4 hours followed by lixiviation with aqueous alkali and acid or enzymatic hydrolysis of fibrinous residue. By this method, substantially pure glucose can be obtained in good yield.</p> |
