PURPOSE:To obtain the catalyst of large specific surface area and superior carrier characteristic and activity by intergrally forming the powder containing rehydration type alumina as raw material then activating the same through rehydration and sintering, thereby providing the transition-alumina-base hollow-form catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Rehydration type alumina, aggregate structures such as silica and talc as well as combustible materials such as wood waste and cork grains are used as raw materials and these are integratlly molded by an extrusion molding means, thence molding is activated through sintering after rehydration, whereby the transition-alumina-base hollow catalyst carrier and catalyst are obtained. This catalyst, composed primarily of transition alumina, is 3% or more in porosity, 5m<2>/g or more in specific surface area, 0.1-1.2g/cm<3> in bulk density and 0.3cm<3>/g or more in pore volume and has at least one opening hole in the extrusion direction. In this way, the catalyst has a large specific surface area and pore volume and is superior in carrier characteristic and activity. |
