PURPOSE:To enhance cooling effect with a small amount of water used by method wherein high density water jet stream is made to collide, at a specified pressure, with the inner and outer surfaces of steel tubing and part of water stream is flowed along the inner and outer surfaces of the tubing. CONSTITUTION:Onto the inner and outer surfaces of large diameter steel tubing after heated at high temperature, water jet stream is injected with high pressure of 20kg/cm<2> or more at the inlet side of colling header and high water density of 1X10<4>l/min/m<2> or more. More than 10% of the jet stream is flowed along the proceeding direction of the steel tubing. The method provides a high cooling speed without reducing strength and toughness and results in reduced amount of water used. |
