A bleaching detergent compsn. comprises (a) 5-50 wt.% of a bleaching agent contg. monoperoxyphthalic acid and/or its water soluble salt which is devoid of inorganic peroxygen cpd., (b) at least 5 wt.% of a chelating agent, (c) 5-50 wt.% of one or more surfactants selected from anionic, cationic, nonionic, ampholytic and zwitterionic detergents, (d) 5-80 wt.% of a detergent builder, and (e) a remainder contg. water and opt. filler salt. The bleaching compsn. is effective at a relatively low washing temperature.
