PURPOSE:To improve the filtering effect of an exhaust gas purifying apparatus and to make the structure compact, by disposing a heat-resisting filter and a catalytic layer in a single casing placed in the exhaust passage, and providing a filter regenerating means which is arranged to be operable also at the time when exhaust gas is being discharged. CONSTITUTION:When diesel engine is in operation, exhaust gas is introduced from inlet port 2 into case 1, and after passing through heat-resisting filter 4 and catalytic layer 6 in the case 1, it is discharged to the outside from outlet port 3. Particles of black smoke contained in exhaust gas are captured and removed by heat-resisting filter 4, whereas odour and noxious gases are removed by catalytic layer 6. As the amount of particles of black smoke captured by filter 4 is increased, pressure difference between inlet port 2 and outlet port 3 is increased. When the pressure difference reaches a certain value, high-pressure burner 8 is set into operation. Resultantly, heating plate 10 is heated red and particles of black smoke captured by filter 4 can be completely combusted and removed by the exhaust gas heated by heating plate 10. |
