PURPOSE:The rolling mill of a prolonged rolling life by making the surface hardness of a rolling roll which rolls in contact with a work roll having undergone electric discharge machining less than the surface hardness of the foregoing work roll and more than the specified hardness. CONSTITUTION:The surface hardness of the rolling roll, which rolls in contact with a work roll, of the rolling mill having the work roll whose surface has been subjected to electric discharge machining, is made less than the surface hardness of the foregoing work roll and not less than Shore hardness Hs75. This enables the rolling life of the rolling roll to be made longer without considerably decreasing the rolling life of the work roll. |
