Prepn. of allyl acetate by oxidn of propylene with oxygen - in presence of solvent and specified palladium catalyst

The reaction is carried out in the liq. phase using at least one catalyst of formula PdAA1mL in which A and A' are each an anion of acetic acid, fluorocarboxylic acids, sulphonic acids and fluorosulphonic acids and A' is also OOR1 in which R1 is a tert hydrocarbyl radical or a pi -allylic gp.; L is a basic ligand and m is 0 or 2. The process, avoiding halide and cyanate ions previously proposed, enables conversion in a homogeneous phase at a relatively low temp. with a very high selectivity.
