Bulletproof laminates of sheet glass - polyvinyl butyral, polycarbonate and polyester resin, for a high strength to wt. ratio

Bullet proof glazing is constructed from a combination of layers of glass laminated with polybutyral film with a layer of polycarbonate sheet laminated with layers of polyester film. The borders of the layers are enclosed in a metal frame with a layer of silicone rubber. For protection of cashiers against handguns or hunting guns such as Brenneke 12 calibre Blondeau or 357 Magnum armour piercing bullets, with an enhanced stregth/wt. ratio. Three layer (A) of glass 3mm thick are bonded by polyvinylbutyral film(B) 1.5 or 2mm thick and then linked via one or more layers (D) of (acrylic) adhesive and layers (C) of polyester film 50-100 mu m thick to polycarbonate sheet (E) 4-13mm thcik, pref. covered externally by one or more layers of 50 mu m thick polyester film.
