The roof skin of two rolled plates is intended for a solar energy collector and/or cooling. The two plates have ribs and/or notches on the inside which are brought into facing alignment prior to connection by rolling. Pref. the inner face of the roof skin is plastically deformed by heated rolls, in order to provide suitable longitudinal and/or transverse profiling. After this deformation the semifinished product is passed through pressed rolls or plates so that the deformed surfaces are finished to form a roof skin, preferably with thermal connection. Between the two layers a permeable diaphragm layer is inserted for the movement of the heat carrier, this diaphragm layer pref. being made of felt.
