Reserve supply for vehicle fuel tank - has integral compartment with vacuum feed to fuel line

A vehicle fuel tank reserve supply lay-out has a small central compartment (4) set over the fuel outlet and closed to the top by a non return outlet valve (6). The compartment retains fuel until the level in the rest of the tank sinks below the bottom edge of the compartment wall. A level indicator (8) in the compartment provides warning of low fuel. The device can be applied to any type of tank, with the compartment filled to the same level as the rest of the tank during normall filling, by allowing air to be vented through the non eturn valve. The indicator shows the driver than he has a set amount of fuel left. The device is unaffected by tilting of the vehicle.
