Hand lamp with rechargeable battery for motor vehicle - connects with vehicle battery when stowed, and can be used as separate detached torch

The small hand lamp serves a dual purpose. In its stowed position it provides illumination for a glove compartment and when unplugged it can be used as a pocket torch. The lamp comprises a built in rechargeable battery (B), a bulb (L), and a switch (S1). In the stowed position it is connected to the vehicle power supply (12V dc) and also to a second switch (S2) attached to the glove compartment lid. The battery is on charge when the lamp is in the stowed position. When in position the lamp can be switched on by either switch, the battery remaining on charge. A protection circuit is normally included to prevent damage to the battery if both switches are on and the bulb inadvertently disconnected.
