The appts. is for travelling appliances fed from a fixed point through a cable laid in a covered duct in the floor, the cable being reeled in or paid out from the appliance. A bracket (17, 17) carries a multiple pulley arrangement (16) to guide the cable (14'') towards the reel on the appliance (B). The pulley mounting also carries guide wheels (18) over which runs the continuous strip (13), typically a steel ribbon, which covers the cable duct (12) at floor level (11). The guide wheels also displace the cover sideways to allow the cable unhindered passage from the duct. Carried on arms (19, 19') from the bracket (17, 17') are rollers (191) which hold down the cover band (13). These arms may also have guides (193) to keep the assembly in line with the duct. The proposed arrangement eliminates the need for hinged duct covers.
