A damp course for house and buildings to prevent rising moisture and water up the walls is produced by laying in the first course above the foundation plinth a layer of silicified bricks. A silicification of the outside surfaces and of the inside is obtained by placing the bricks in a soln. of an Si cpd., pref. water glass or silica gel. After extraction and dipping into a diluted soln. of hydrochloric or sulphuric acid, the bricks are dried and ready for laying. This is a simple way of creating a damp course and of creating a horizontal and vertical barrier for moisture.
|
