The steplessly-adjustable gearbox has gears shaped so as to give variable peripheral speed by means of an adjustable sliding washer, the gears reamining continuously in mesh and transmitting the full torque. The washer can have a rotary movement imparted to it via a gear on the driving shaft and a further one on a hollow shaft. A screwed adjusting spindle, supported axially in the housing and a bevel gear, can be rotated by a handwheel. An adjusting sleeve on the spindle is slid axially on the hollow shaft.
