<p>The system has a reaction chamber (6) containing several flasks (2a, 2b, 2c), each within an internal capsule (1) and each inverted via an external lever (4, 4'). The levers (4, 4') are secured to the chamber at one side by a cord (8) which is melted by passing current through a surrounding heating wire, the other end of each lever (4, 4') acted on by a tension spring (7). This heating wire is supplied with current upon a fire being detected, so that the flasks (2a, 2b, 2c) invert and empty the contained chemicals onto the floor of the chamber (6) to provoke a reaction providing a quenching gas and water. These are supplied to a number of sprinklers in the vicinity of the detected fire.</p> |
