A copy cutting machine for large shapes from blocks of wood or plastic (rigid plastic foam) includes a support tube for the block and a template on a common vertical axis. The cutting tool is an endless roughened wire which is guided by a scanning roller in contact with the template.: The cutting tool frame can only be move at right angles to the centre line, around which the block and the template can be revolved. This is a simple method of cutting out even large shapes not only with vertical but also inclined cutting faces.
