<p>A counting frame comprises cubes, capsules, discs or spheres with numbers 1 to 100 in colours or a single colour. The frame can be extended for 1 to 1,000. The numbering helps children to calculate faster than with the beads normally used. In the manu coloured version, the units are black, the tens red, the hundreds blue, with the thousands brown in the extended version. So that the counters cannot be rotated but only slid the cubes, capsules and discs are provided with two holes for two round steel rods or a rectangular aperture or slit for a correspondingly shaped steel or aluminium rod. Spheres can only have the latter possibility. The capsules can be flat or round. In all forms the numbers are always visible.</p> |
