PURPOSE:To obtain a catalyst which is capable of completely converting styrene into carbon dioxide at a comparatively low temperature and which consists of a zirconia-supported cobalt oxide. CONSTITUTION:A complete oxidation catalyst for styrene is obtained by supporting cobalt oxide on zirconia (zirconium oxide) generally in a proportion of 1.0- 10.0wt%, preferably 3.0-5.0wt%, on the basis of the whole amt. of the catalyst. Also, the reaction temperature at which styrene is completely oxidized over the catalyst is 300-400 deg.C, usually 300-320 deg.C. The activity of this catalyst is not lowered even when the reaction time exceeds 1,000 hours. |
