1. A process for constructing at least certain areas of the upper part of the refractory wall of a metallurgical electric arc furnace which is not in prolonged contact with the liquid metal bath, 0 which involves the use of cooling elements made of a good heat-conductive material, characterized by juxtaposing alternately blocks, of an oxide-based refractory material and graphite blocks, these blocks extending from the inner face to the outer face of the refractory wall and the blocks forming each row being offset with respect to the blocks forming adjacent rows so that each graphite block is surrounded by blocks of oxide-based refractory material, the width la of each block of oxide-based refractory material being comprised between 80 and 150 mm and the width lb of each graphite block being comprised between 10 and 50 mm.
|
