PURPOSE:To prevent fiber braking and napping during coating treatment by adding an amphoteric or nonionic surfactant to a mixt. of a cationic substance and an anionic substance and uniformly coating glass fibers with the resulting binder. CONSTITUTION:A cationic substance such as a film forming agent made of cationic starch and an anionic substance such as a dodecylbenzene sulfonate lubricant are mixed, and an amphoteric or nonionic surfactant is added to the mixt. to prepare a glass fiber binder. By applying this binder to glass fiber filaments spun by a usual method, the fibers can be coated uniformly. During this treatment fiber breaking and napping occur very slightly and unevenness is not caused. |
