<p>Engine braking by opening the exhaust valves on the compression strokes is enhanced by increasing the charging pressure and the exhaust back pressure. The exhaust gases are diverted by a valve 22 to flow through only one of the turbine inlet volutes simultaneously with fuel supply cut-off and exhaust valve opening. Engine braking may varied by selecting the number of exhaust valves which are opened and operation of the valve 22. <IMAGE></p> |
