<p>A triangular section bore rib divides the fitting into fore (12) and aft (17) chambers, presenting a conical face (13) to the former, and a radial face to the latter. A bore circlip (16) retains a perforated (15) hollow conical valve plug (14) in the front chamber, and a threaded retaining ring (18) locates a conical coil spring (19) in the rear chamber. The lesser spring extremity engages a plug nose groove (21) and the spring tends to lift the plug off its seat i.e. open the valve. Spring calibration is such that it operates only when similar pressures exist both upstream and downstream of the connection.</p> |
