The motor vehicle headlights optical system has front lens attached with a rib placed into a groove with a connecting element. The system is able to withstand heat and mechanical shock. The arrangements has good appearance and compensates any differential expansion within the headlights unit. The rib and the groove are provided with cams and with profiled seats. The cams and seats are arranged on the circumference of the lens and of the mirror. The connector forms a seal placed into the groove.
