A sleeved tube is pressed forward by cylinders which engage a supporting pressure ring; and drive for an insertable wormgear with drill head is incorporated in the appliance for horizontal drilling. The cylinders (5) are fastened at the rear to a pressure bridge (4) which also absorbs the wormgear (a) drive's (11) thrust reaction forces. The drive is supported via one or more spring elements (13). While common support is provided, different pressure forces for sleeved tube and wormgear can be set.
