Rear view aid for road vehicle - has mirrors and lenses in periscope tube between dashboard and rear end

A periscope type rear view aid for a vehicle has a tubular section (3) set between the dashboard and the rear of the vehicle and containing mirrors and lenses to provide a picture of the rear view on the dashboard. The tube can b e of any cross sectional shape and can be adjusted to suit any vehicle. For low slung vehicles the tube is taken under the chassis and up at the rear to a suitable viewing height. The mirrors can be replaced by prisms (1) in the corners of the tube, while lenses (2) at the front and rear provide a clear, magnified image.
