The connector has a first insulating block (6) through which contact pins (5) project. The other ends of the pins are held by a support block (1). An earthed screening plate (14) extends over the inside face of the first block and has holes to allow the shanks of the pins to pass the support block into the first block. The screening plate can be connected directly or via a fixing device to the earth of the plug-in unit. The screening plate may be a self-adhesive metal foil. The advantage lies in more effective screening achieved in a manner that occupies little space (thin metal foil) and that can be adapted to plug-in units of any size.
