PURPOSE:To improve the toughness of a high Cr ferritic steel having a specified compsn. without carrying out special melting and refining by finishing the hot working of the steel at a low temp. and specifying the normalizing temp. CONSTITUTION:A steel contg., by weight, 0.05-0.15%, <=0.50% Si, <=1.0% Mn, 8.04n12.0% Cr, <=1.0% Ni, 0.8-1.3% Mo, 0.01-0.30% V, 0.01-0.30% Nb, <=0.20% Al and 0.005-0.10% N is hot worked and this hot working is finished at a low temp. of <=900 deg.C. The steel is then normalized in the low temp. range of 870-1,000 deg.C and tempered. The toughness of the high Cr ferritic steel is improved and the reliability and safety of a structure, etc., made of the steel can be improved. |
