<p>PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING A CROSS SLOT HEAD PUNCH A process and an apparatus for manufacturing a crossslot head punch. The punch is made from a cylindrical blank having a top end face with a flat turned cone and a flat bottom end face. The flat turned cone has an angle ? within the 124140.degree. range and a cross-slot head is formed therein while the blank is in a cold state. This cross-head is carried out in one single step and the external diameter and length of the blank is not effected. To form the head, the cylindrical blank is placed in a bore of a holding fixture and the punch enters that bore and deforms the top end face. The blank is then ejected from the bore.</p> |
