<p>An apparatus for reproducing video signals recorded in successive parallel tracks extending obliquely across a magnetic tape by means of at least one rotary magnetic head which scans the tracks in succession at a rate dependent on the speed at which the tape is moved longitudinally by a tape transport assembly, is provided with a track searching arrangement which includes a manually rotatable wheel and a control circuit for regulating the speed and direction of movement of the tape by the tape transport assembly in dependence on the speed and direction of rotation of the manually rotatable wheel. In response to relatively slow-speed rotation of the wheel within a first speed range, the speed of movement or transport of the tape is varied continuously in proportion to speed of rotation of the wheel. For rotation of the wheel at speeds within successively increased speed ranges, the tape is moved or transported, preferably only by driving of the supply and take-up reels therefor, at successively increased, substantially constant respective speeds having successively increases ratios to the corresponding speeds of rotation of the wheel.</p> |
