PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having a long-term shelf stability in resistances to water, plasticizer, and oil and a superior glossiness, by providing an intermediate layer mainly composed of a water-soluble polymer material, a pigment, and a crosslinker on a thermal color-forming layer on a base and further providing a glossy layer using a glossy and hydrophobic polymer compound and an lubricant as effective ingradients. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material, a thermal color-forming layer containing a color forming dye material, a color developer, and an adhesive is formed on a base, thereon an intermediate layer mainly composed of a water-soluble polymer material, a pigment, and a crosslinker is formed, and on the intermediate layer a glossy layer containing a glossy and hydrophobic polymer compound and an lubricant is provided. The intermediate layer enhances the resistances to water, plasticizer, and oil, and is capable of preventing a color forming part from fading. As the water-sol uble polymer material, a material having barrier properties, such as a polyvinyl alcohol resin or a casein, is used. As the hydrophobic polymer compound in the glossy layer, an organic solvent solution or emulsion of a copolymer made of an acrylic ester and/or a methacrylic ester and a styrene and/or a vinyl acetate can be used. As the lubricant, a metal salt of higher fatty acid, a microcrystalline wax, and the like can be used. |
