PURPOSE:To enhance the thermal efficiency of annealing and lower the fuel unit by attaching many fins to the annealing pipe of a vertical type apparatus for continuously annealing a wire rod with steam. CONSTITUTION:Drawn wire rod 1 is annealed by passing through pipe 3 filled with superheated steam, and the annealed rod is water-cooled by passing through cooling water vessel 5. Pipe 3 has been set in the vertical type chamber lined with heat insulating material 11, and many fins 4 have been attached stepwise to the outside of pipe 3. A mixt. of fuel gas and preheated air is introduced into burners 7, 8 placed round pipe 3 from inlets 23, 24, burned, and exhausted from exhaust port 22 through steam generating unit 14 and heat exchanger 12 while heating fins 4 and pipe 3. Water introduced into unit 14 from inlet 17 is converted into steam, which then enters pipe 3 from outlet 19 through inlet 25 of pipe 3. Air heated with exchanger 12 is used to turn fuel gas. Since the combustion gas slowly rises in the chamber owing to the presence of fins 4, the efficiency of heating fins 4 is enhanced to save the fuel. |
