The biopsy instrument has a feed device to supply a specific volume through the skin of the patient. The process records the skin in two dimensions by ultrasonic for checking purposes. The results are displayed on an instrument in real time. There is a guide element (4) located between two ultrasonic transmission and receiving systems operated alterately. They are arranged such that the guide element for the biopsy instrument is parallel to the central axis through the ultrasonic system. The systems are spaced a given distance apart. The display incorporates an electronic circuit which will produce a directrix (5) to coincide with the real time picture.
