Pneumatic chamber is fed with a combustible gas, a gas aiding combustion, or a mixt. of these gases. Valves and a pressure gauge are used to control the flow of the gases through the chamber. The chamber also has an inlet for powder which carried by the gases through an outlet pipe to a burner used e.g. for flame spraying the powder onto a workpiece. Valves are pref. employed for independent control of the flow rate of each gas fed into the pneumatic chamber, one gas stream forming a jet passing through a pipe with a tapering cone outlet. Overall result is a venturi effect carrying the powder to the burner, where the flow rate of the powder can be accurately controlled.
