The repetitive stamping process treats rigid blank sheets to obtain plaques with a raised pattern or symbol, the sheets being pressed onto a die or punch of the requisite form. The punch is obtained by first forming the raised pattern on a base plate, a sheet of relatively rigid material then being pressed onto the assembly. A relatively weak material e.g hard cardboard is used to form the raised pattern which is reproduced on the top surface of the overlying sheet. Alternative materials to cardboard are plastic materials such as brass or zinc, the sheet may be of metal, and finished products may be obtained by pressing blanks onto the composite punch block. The sheet and the contour filling may be detachable to allow re-use of the base, or the connection may be of a permanent nature.
|
