PURPOSE:To obtain chiral compounds in good yield by using a rhorium complex having the optically active substance of a specific phosphine derivative as a ligand as a catalyst for the hydrogeneation reaction of prochiral carbon double bonds. CONSTITUTION:In the hydrogeneation reaction of an organic compound having prochiral C-C double bonds, an asymmetric hydrogeneation catalyst consisting of a rhodium complex having as a ligand a chiral phosphine, e.g., the optically active substance of phosphine derivative of the formula, (R is an alkyl, aryl or aralkyl group). Thus, chiral compounds can be obtained in good yield and also the asymmetric hydrogeneation catalyst is excellently applicable to the synthesis of optically active amino acids. |
