发明名称 Improvements in log debarker
摘要 806,469. Removing bark from logs. CANADIAN INGERSOLL-RAND CO. Ltd. June 7, 1957 [Jan. 22, 1957], No. 18256/57. Class 145. A log debarking machine comprises cutters 106 pivoted within a drum 16 rotating round the log and a pair of arms 22 pivoted on the machine frame 10 and each carrying feed means which grips the log at at least two areas spaced in the axial direction of the log to prevent rocking. The feed means may comprise rolling elements spaced along the log or, as shown, a pair of belts or chains 38 running over idler sprockets 36, 44 and a driven sprocket 34, the chains carrying between them angle-section grippers 40 with stepped concave faces. The arms 22 are urged together into engagement with the log by a spring 24 and are interconnected at their pivot ends by gear segments 28 so that they move equally and oppositely from the centre of the debarking drum and maintain the log centralized. A motor 12 on the wheeled frame 10 drives worm gearing which is connected by .bevel gearing to the driven sprocket 34 of at least one of the feed means and is connected by bevel gearing and belts to the roller-mounted cutter drum 16. The arms 102 carrying the cutters 106 are pivoted at 104 and have stub arms carrying centrifugal weights 110. When the machine is stopped, the uppermost cutters are unbalanced and tend to move out of engagement with the log to give at least partial release of a jammed log. A hydraulic jack 89 is provided for forcing apart the arms 22. Similar arms 22 and feed means may be provided on the discharge end of the machine.
