Cord fabric, e.g. of rayon, for use in a pneumatic tyre, is adhered to an element of an isoolefin-diolefin copolymer having a major part of iso-olefin by dipping in an aqueous dispersion of a mixture of phenol-aldehyde resin and butadiene styrene-vinyl pyridine latex, drying the fabric, dipping the dry cord in a solution of brominated iso-olefin-diolefin copolymer having a bromine content not exceeding 50 per cent by weight, again drying the cord, and holding the cord against the element whilst applying vulcanizing heat and pressure. The brominated copolymer is preferably of isobutylene-isoprene having a major proportion of isobutylene, and a bromine content of 5 to 30 per cent by weight. Other brominated copolymers specified are of isobutylene, 3-methyl butene-1, 2-ethyl butene-1, 4-ethyl pentene-1, or 4-ethyl hexene-1 with butadiene-1,3, isoprene, 2,4-dimethyl butadiene-1,3, piperylene, or 3-methyl pentadiene-1,3. The brominated copolymer together with vulcanizing and other ingredients is preferably dissolved in a mixture of naphtha and isopropyl alcohol, or in hexane, toluene, benzene, xylene, methyl ethyl ketone, or dichloroethylene, or in mixtures thereof. In examples the manufacture of a vehicle tyre is described in which sheets of rayon cord fabric are passed through an aqueous dispersion comprising butadiene-styrene vinyl pyridine latex, resorcinol, aqueous formaldehyde solution, aqueous sodium hydroxide solution, and carbon black. The fabric is allowed to dry and is then passed through a solution in xylene or a mixture of naphtha and isopropyl alcohol of a brominated copolymer of isobutylene-isoprene, carbon black, polyparadinitrosobenzene, and vulcanizing ingredients, and which may contain paraformaldehyde and resorcinol. The solvent is allowed to evaporate and a sheet of vulcanizable isobutylene-isoprene copolymer squeezed between and against the cords in a calender to form lengths of vulcanizable rubberized fabric which is built into a tyre in known manner. The tyre is then shaped and vulcanized. The vulcanizable isobutylene isoprene copolymer preferably contains carbon black, polyparadinitrosobenzene, and vulcanizing ingredients.
