High temp. solar heat absorber - assembled as polyhedron from refractory sandwich panels

Solar heat absorber for prodn. of high-temp. process heat which is mounted in the focal point of a mirror is a polyhedron, assembled from a number of individual absorber plates. Each absorber plate consists of one sheet of refractory material in which fluid channels have been machined by electro-erosion or chemical etching. Another sheet which covers the first sheet in sandwich fashion can have similar channels. All individual absorber plates are finally assembled to a polyhedron and their channels are connected to a complete circuit. This is a low-cost method of assembling refractory material to a high-temp. solar heat absorber.
