Mask applicator for metal and polymer laminates - displacing and lifting mask by cam mechanisms

Alternate layers of metal and of glow discharge polymers with an offset relative to each other are applied to a substrate in the manufacture of electrical capacitors on a drum with recesses for the substrate holders. Two stationary cam rings enclose the two drum ends. A spring loaded plunger on the drum runs along a groove in the first ring and is linked through a ratchet wheel and cam to displace the substrate holder. Other pins run in grooves of the second ring and lift up a mask when the substrate holder is being displaced between a metallisation section and a polymerisation section. This is a simple method of placing the masks relative to the substrates in their proper positions and to reproduce these operations with a high accuracy.
