Noise reducing panel, esp. for motor vehicle bodies - where panel consists of aluminium foil bonded to fibre layer impregnated with bitumen

The panel consists of a metal foil with wt. 150-500 g/m2, bonded to a layer made of animal, vegetable and/or synthetic fibres, impregnated with bitumen and possibly contg. fillers. The metal foil is pref. Al contg. over 90% Al and 0.1-0.3 mm thick, bonded by an adhesive to the fibre layer, which has a wt. of 800-2000 g/m2. The outer surface of the fibre layer is pref. covered with a self-sticking adhesive; and the fibres pref. consist of cellulose or bituminised felt, roofing felt or cardboard, in all cases impregnated with bitumen. A double panel may be used, i.e. each consisting of one metal foil and one fibre layer. The panels are used esp. to reduce the "drumming" of motor vehicle bodies.
