Provided on the supporting flange (2) is a detent star wheel (3) which is provided with recesses (12). Connected to the supporting flange (2) is a driving disc (4) with pawls (5) recessed into cut-outs (16). The rotary motion of the driving disc (4) pushes one of the pawls (5) as far as is permitted by the cut-outs (16) accommodating the pawls (5) in the driving disc. Depending on the direction of the rotary motion, one pawl (5) is pushed back into the driving disc (4) and remains inoperative, while the other pawl (5) performs an operative function. The freewheel is of uncomplicated construction and simple to manufacture and use. <IMAGE>
