Four-stroke IC engine - has crankshaft built up from centre with disc eccentrics mounted on roller bearings

The piston engine, esp. operates on the 4-stroke cycle. It is based on a design with twin eccentric discs on lock crank-pin each connected to a pair of opposed pistons disposed 90 degrees apart. The three-roller-bearing crankshaft has a central main bearing with the crankpins either side equidistant from the shaft centreline but 180 degrees apart. The shaft may be in one piece or split in the centre bearing centreplane. The pin ends are detachably but rotationally rigidly fixed in the outer main bearing journal discs, by annular springs via tightening discs, permitting roller-bearing mounting of the eccentric discs.
