The leaf (5) is operated by an electric motor (6) via a shaft (7) using a link (8). The free end of the link (8) carries a roller (9) gliding in guide rail (10) rigidly connected to the arm, which, in turn is mounted on the gate leaf (5). The angle enclosed by the leaf (5) and the arm (12), as well as the opening angle of the leaf (5) is 90 deg.. To move the leaf (5) from the closed into the open position the shaft (7) as well as the link (8) travels over a path of 270 deg. resulting in a reduction ratio of 3:1 between the link (8) and the leaf (5). In both terminal positions of the leaf the gate is in a locked position as any force acting on the leaf fails to produce a torque on the shaft (7).
