PURPOSE:To considerably miniaturize a boosting transformer by frequency converting the power source input of a commercial frequency to high frequencies then boosting the same. CONSTITUTION:The input from a power source 1 is regulated to about 80V with a Slidac 2 and is converted to DC by way of an AC-DC converter 3. This DC is inputted to the next DC-AC converter 4. The DC-AC converter 4 converts the DC inputted thereto to the AC of sine wave or square wave of frequencies of 16-60K Hz, boosts the AC inputted by the next transformer 5 to the AC of sine wave or square wave of about 5KV and supplies these to discharging electrodes 6, 6'. As a result of this, arc discharge occurs between the discharging electrodes 6, 6', by which optical fibers 7, 7' may be welded. In this way, the power source input may be boosted after conversion to high frequencies and therefore the transformer for boosting may be considerably miniaturized. |
