A composite metal sintered article comprising a sintered metal body at least a part of the surface of which has a metal shell comprising an outer metal layer which is hard and wear-resistant, and an inner metal layer which is thicker and softer than the outer metal layer. The composite metal sintered article has excellent surface properties and high dimensional accuracy and may be used as a mold, die or structural member and particularly as a press mold for glassware manufacture. Methods for the preparation of the composite metal sintered article are described and exemplified. <IMAGE> |
